Falling into your year round vibe
Let’s talk about Fall decorating. I’m 100% sure that the reason I love Fall has less to do with transitioning foliage that happens in the Northeast and so much more the do with the end of the relentless Texas summer. I’m like “HI FALL!!! Is it only going to be 90 degrees today! OK! I’ll wear jeans and boots then!” I liken this to my family in Chicago that welcomes the change of season to Spring after the brutal cold. So welcome Fall! I’ll celebrate you with white pumpkins and cinnamon pinecones but we’ll keep the AC running and pass on a warm cup of pumpkin until its cooler. I’m also very obviously a fan of decorating and I feel like transitioning into Fall is like the training camp prepping for a full regular season of amazing decor opportunities! (I’m not very into sports but I feel like that analogy works.. right?). We spent some time last weekend letting the kids paint pumpkins while I laid out some of our decor. I thought you might like some inspiration to the tune of your year-round decor style. I don’t think you have to succumb to the same style as everyone else during pre-season so you shouldn’t do it now either.
A rustic decor direction for fall gives me the apple picking feels. Lots of texture, Pendleton, farm inspired dried florals all mix together for a casual feel. This style can stay elegant by keeping the decor tailored!
Artisanal hand painted pumpkins, dried floral with a field gathered look, and other hand made touches can give your fall decor a Bohemian feeling. It’s a casual, well travelled vibe that is best curated rather that from the box! I have a few of these Kantha blankets from India and I can guarantee you’ll wish you had more!
A glamour inspired fall will tee you up nicely to transition to Christmas! Gilding, lux texture and hints of pink and silvery blue will set the tone with real candle light vibes. I think you could also mix some of these elements in with other styles for interest or even in a more formal space! I love a good glamour moment.
I actually am loving this vibe because of the vibrancy of color and exciting contrast! I actually use dried lavender year round for arrangements on my bookcases because its a great texture and color. If you rustle them a little, you’ll get the nice smell too! Introducing a leather detail in a refined manner feels like a fresh take on the season!
